Data Interchange Plc is a long established software house looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to provide 1st level support on our products to our UK and foreign customers.

You will be required to have an excellent phone manner, confidence and a desire to stay up-to-date with technologies. Typical spheres of operation include performing QA testing on new products and diagnosing customer problems. Useful experience would involve knowledge of common business processes, networking and common operating systems. The role will include shift work to cover evenings and early mornings.

Data Interchange Plc is situated in a prime location, with ample free car parking in the prestigious Minerva business park. Private health care and subsidised gym memberships are also offered.

Requirements

Passionate about working in IT
Committed and willing to work outside of normal office hours should the need arise
Motivated to learn new skills - training provided on the job to the right candidate
Upper second class degree (2:1) or better in a science related discipline
Confident manner and effective communication skills
Expertise in configuration and usage of Windows operating systems in a networked environment

Useful Experience

Familiarity with AS/400 and Mainframe platforms
Experience with Cisco and Bintec Routers, including configuration and debugging.
Experience with X.25, both PSS networks and over TCP/IP or ISDN (X.31 case A&B and ISO8208)
Complete understanding of the 7 layer ISO protocol stack
Experience with EDI messaging
Experience of the OFTP communication protocol
Knowledge of TCP/IP routing, addressing/subnetting and related technologies (DNS, DHCP etc)
Programming ability C++ and C#
