DI sponsors GS1 conference
April 2008 - DI sponsors the GS1 UK conference and exhibition on "Delivering Supply Chain Excellence"
DI was pleased to sponsor the recent GS1 UK conference and exhibition on "Delivering Supply Chain Excellence", held at Leicester City Football Club in April. The event was attended by 300 people from the retail sector, representing a wide cross-section of retail customers, their suppliers and software providers.
There was much interest in our brand new GDS Vision application. One company, a well-known food supplier, explained how they have already loaded their product information into spreadsheets, awaiting the time when it will be possible to upload it to the GS1 datapool.
There will be many companies in the same position, anxiously awaiting a product like ours that will pick up their data, validate it, import it to the data pool and report on any missing components. For all the data that passes the validation tests, the software will generate the XML format to be uploaded to the datapool and will automatically deliver it. For companies with many product details to upload, who therefore require minimal user intervention, our product is seen to fit the bill perfectly.
Although the hot topics of the day were GDS and RFID, there was still plenty of interest in traditional EDI solutions. Many companies are interested in EDI for the Supply Chain, which helps to reduce their costs, and many are now actively considering making it widely available to their own suppliers.
