EDI Consultancy
Whether you are looking to implement a brand new eBusiness solution, replace an existing system,
or want advice you can trust on how to solve your particular eBusiness problem,
Data Interchange specialises in providing eBusiness consultancy,
with the required technical expertise and over 15 years experience to call on.
Planning
Our dedicated team of consultants will help you plan and guide you through what is likely to be one of the most
important processes your company will undergo.
The first step is to make a study of your existing eBusiness environment, if you already have a system in place.
Then together we can agree on your goals and determine the best way to achieve them, taking all your requirements into account.
We will agree timescales, service levels and an implementation plan before any work is carried out.
Migration
In the case of migration from an existing system, the implementation plan will include an agreed sequence
in which customers are to be migrated from the existing system.
If necessary, we will liaise with all affected customers and make preparations for their migration to the new system.
To avoid any inconvenience to your customers, we will ensure that full testing is carried out before migration commences,
including the setting up of a dummy Trading Partner to test transmission and translation from end to end.
During migration, trading partners will be set up in test mode before they are set to fully live operation.
During the test phase, any translations will be tested and compared against current file formats,
to ensure that the changeover is seamless.
Finally, to give you complete peace of mind, we promise to keep you up-to-date with regular progress reports
at each stage of the migration.
Case Study - Ford Rollout
Ford and Data Interchange recently worked in partnership to migrate 600 Ford suppliers to a new EDI platform.
This was achieved ahead of the project timescales and with the minimum of disruption to the supply chain.
The project was initiated because the FordNet software, which had handled the bulk of
Ford EDI traffic since 1985, had reached the end of its licence period.
This provided Ford with the opportunity to eliminate this legacy system
and replace it with a solution built upon the ODETTE File Transfer Protocol (OFTP),
which is the dominant protocol within the Automotive industry, over a TCP/IP based network.
DARWIN met all of Ford’s EDI requirements and was already in use with a number of European suppliers.
Although the suppliers were free to use any OFTP solution, DARWIN was chosen by over 85%
of the European suppliers to replace the legacy Ford Net system.
