The ENGDAT module

The ENGDAT module is an optional add-on to the ODEX and EPIC software, in the form of an extra Workstation. The ENGDAT Workstation is a specialised version of the ODEX or EPIC Workstation, designed for the day-to-day exchange and handling of ENGDAT folders between trading partners.

The ENGDAT module relies on the setting up of an ENGDAT relationship for each trading partner with whom you will exchange ENGDAT data. Each ENGDAT relationship allows you to specify which version of the ENGDAT message will be used and to which OFTP mailbox the files will be transmitted. It also permits you to set up default characteristics for each trading partner’s files, which saves time when creating new folders in future.

Our ENGDAT module supports both ENGDAT v2 and ENGDAT v3, and uses trading partner relationships and validation profiles to aid the process of creating ENGDAT messages. The pre-configured validation profiles set the various ENGDAT fields to be mandatory or optional according to your trading partners’ standards, to ensure that you send the required information.

Once the ENGDAT relationships have been set up in the ODEX or EPIC Administrator, the ENGDAT Workstation can be used to create outgoing ENGDAT folders and/or to handle received ENGDAT folders.
