More Information:

First, take a backup of the ODEX Enterprise database using the ODEX Database Backup utility. This can be found by selecting “Start -> Programs -> Data Interchange Plc -> ODEX Enterprise x.x.x -> ODEX Database Backup” from Windows. Alternatively you can navigate to the ODEX installation directory (by default “C:\Program Files\DIP\ODEX Enterprise\x.x.x.xxx\”) and run the “SQLBackup.exe”.

Once you have a database backup, install ODEX Enterprise on the new machine. As part of this process you will be asked where you wish to install the ODEX Database. Accept the default. The ODEX Server will start as soon as the installation is complete.

Start the ODEX Administrator. You will be prompted for your ODEX Serial Number and Licence code. Enter these into the system. Once you have done this, close the ODEX Administrator and shutdown the ODEX Server application.

Now copy the following files from the installation directory of the old system to the installation directory of the new system –

  • The “Data” folder
  • The “XE” folder
  • The “Xlate” folder
  • The file “ODSKEY00.cfg”

If you are using XE mapping jobs and you do not have a copy of the .DLL files for the maps in the XE directory, these will also need to be copied across.

On the New system you can now restore the database backup that you have taken. This is done using the same ‘ODEX Database Backup’ utility, but this time select the “Restore” option.

Finally, if your ODEX is referencing any local folders which you have set-up on the old system, please ensure that these are all available. You can now start the ODEX Server application on the new machine, which will include all of the file history, trading partner history, etc that are in the old system.
